Men's Match vs Tamworth

Won 3 - 0

Solid Season Opener for the Champions

First game of the season and a solid win against Tamworth. It wasn't pretty and there is a lot of room for improvement but it was a good start.

Tamworth had a couple of new players who weren't too experienced, but they started well, until PVC got into their groove. With the power of Jordan and new player, Marcin, hitting through 4, PVC always had the upper hand.

Having started with Chris, Keith, Mike, Lee, Marcin and Jordan in the first, and winning comfortably, Chris took himself off and Geoff came on to set alongside Keith. Once more, PVC were solid enough and Tamworth visibly wilted agains the power of the attacks.

Final set and a few more changes with Dave Bliss and Martin coming on through 3 - Dave having overcome a horrendous journey to finally make it to Cannons, an excellent effort in itself. Raj came on to set and showed he could be a useful option as an off-hitter. Jordan's jump serves in the final set broke any lingering Tamworth resistance and the match was wrapped up 3-0.

The serve percentage was not quite at the usual standard, and the defense was a little scrappy, but PVC are off to a winning start in their quest to retain their title.

Highlights for PVC was the jump servicing of Jordan, Marcin fitting in well with the team (and hitting over the Tamworth block), Raj's confident setting and Keith's assured setting all through the game. For Tamworth, one of their new players showed some glimmers with some wonderful hits.
