PVC warm up to the season

We were pretty awful in the first game - serving, digging and movement was poor - even Jordan was fluffing his hits. We were 16-9 down and then won 16 points to their 4 - the "PVC are hard to beat" thing kicked in and they started to cave in.

I brought Mike on in the second set just to add a bit of variety (Geoff was playing pretty well - the setting was ok in the first set, the digging and hitting was letting us down). It worked in that we never looked in trouble and Mike's little dinks just kept taking them by surprise. I think at this point they thought they couldn't beat us - they only got to 16 because they won 5 consecutive points when were we already on 22.

Marek played pretty well when he came on - it was more that we took sometime to adjust to his game. Keith was knackered by the third game and Mike was having a bit of a mare setting - I would have brought myself on for the third set but I've not been feeling too good for a couple of weeks so didn't feel I'd add much to the proceedings. That and the vomit would have made our side of the court a bit slippy. We nicked it 25-23 - again bloody mindedness as much as anything

Odd to say having beat Hermitage 3-0 away but everyone thought we hadn't played that well! Nice to think we can actually improve - and we didn't even have Martin to add a bit of extra firepower at 4!

Incidently - they put out their strongest side. Eddy didn't even get on court.
